Microfluidic Design Automation (OpenMFDA)
Microfluidic devices, including lab-on-a-chip devices, have many advantages over conventional laboratory techniques. Although they are now common in some applications, there are several barriers to wider adoption. This project seeks to address those barriers by combining 3D printing and design automation tools to overcome the high initial cost to manufacture a design and the labor-intensive process of developing each design. This project, Open Microfluidic Design Automation (OpenMFDA), aims to create an open-source software ecosystem for sharing microfluidic designs with an easy-to-use software toolchain for developing a design, verification, and manufacturing for microfluidic devices.
